Sustainable Transportation Systems and Urban Mobility
This research work aims at creating a “sustainable” transportation network with focus on safety, inter-modality (pedestrians, transit/public modes, non-motorized and motorized vehicles), and power consumption/emission. Special attention is dedicated to emerging micro-mobility and shared-ride services from both an individual behavioral perspective (i.e. cyclists’ behaviors, scooter riders’ safety …etc.) and a network modeling perspective (i.e. pricing and scheduling models, intermodal network-level efficiency …etc.). This GWTP’s research is aligned with a core human-centric objective: to provide equitable and inclusive transportation services without ignoring the most vulnerable populations especially in urban environments. This work is partially funded by the US Department of Transportation.
